On Tuesday 14th September the LTLL team presented their project to the staff .
We discussed the project goals and what our vision for this project over the next two years will be. We presented a power point outlining these goals based on data collected from a Maths survey and clinical interviews. St Gerard’s Naplan data results were discussed in light of our project goals. The team also addressed the numeracy growth points which inform future programming and teaching methods.
Our next phase of the project will involve adapting our teaching methods targeting student’s growth points.
Particular students needs will be targeted as a result of data collected and teaching practices will be modified to intensively address these needs.
Staff were enthusiastic about our project and interested to hear about our data results which came out of the clinical interviews and maths surveys.
A great afternoon of professional development was shared by all.
Below is the powerpoint we presented:
St Gerard’s LTLL team met on Friday 3rd September. We jig-sawed an article, 'Growth Points that Describe Young Children Learning in the Counting, Place Value, Addition and Subtraction and Multiplication and Division Domains’ by Ann Gervasoni and discussed the issue of Growth Points in light of the recent clinical interviews conducted across Grade 3. Team members deepened their understanding of Growth Points and used this knowledge to make adjustments to the way current mathematical lessons are conducted. A specific focus will target six students, whose Growth Points need to be improved.
The St Gerard's LTLL team are now formulation the data gained from the Maths Clinical Interviews and placing these growth points onto individual growth sheets for each child.
Since starting the LTLL project the St Gerard's team has been filling in a ‘Reflection Booklet’. This booklet is used for ongoing personal annotations, to document our thoughts as we go through administering Clinical interviews, analysing data and changing our teaching practices. Our captured reflections will also be useful when nearing the end of the project study, to look back at our own progress and journey.
Attached below is a two paged publisher version of St Gerard’s LTLL Reflective Booklet.
